Ruth Banwell

Mrs. Banwell moved to Virginia from Janesville, Wisconsin. She graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelors of Music Education. She receieved cetification in Suzuki Violin Method from Stevens Point, WI. Mrs. Banwell has taugth private lessons for violin, viola, cello, and piano for over 40 years. She taught 18 years as an orcehstra teacher for grades 5 - 8 in Wisconsin, and has performed violin with multiple symphonies including the Rockford Illinois Symphony, Beloit/Janesville Wisconsin Symphony, and various string quartets. Her students consistently are awarded scholarships from various music foundations and clubs. She is a member of SAI, SAA, and the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Mrs. Banwell's musical goals are to inspire students to learn, to teach a whole-student and student-centered approach, to spark the student's imagination and musical understanding, and to act as a guiding light as students expand their musical ideas.
